Dermal Fillers

What are Dermal Fillers?

As we get older our skin becomes thinner and less pliable. This is due to loss of collagen and elastin. At the same time, we also lose volume in the face (particularly in the midface area) which provides scaffolding and shape. Both these processes result in sagging of the skin and tissues which causes fine lines and wrinkles. Other factors which exacerbate skin ageing are smoking, sun-damage and genetics.

Dermal fillers are a popular cosmetic treatment offered at Time Aesthetics that can help improve the appearance of facial lines, wrinkles, and restore volume loss. At TIME we only use the highest quality, CE approved fillers from registered reputable pharmacies to provide safe and effective results.

How do Dermal Fillers work?

Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, which are naturally occurring substances in the body. These fillers are injected into the skin to add volume, restore youthful contours, and improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles. At Time Aesthetics, we offer a range of different dermal filler treatments to address specific needs and concerns. We will work with you to create a tailored treatment plan that addresses your specific goals and desires. We use a variety of injection techniques to ensure that the fillers are placed precisely and evenly, providing a natural-looking result.

One of the benefits of dermal fillers is that they provide immediate results, improving over the initial 2 weeks, with little to no downtime required. Depending on the type of filler used, the results can last from 12 to 18 months. We will discuss the expected results and the recommended follow-up treatments to help maintain the results.

What areas can be treated?
Cheek Enhancement

Filler can be used to restore lost volume and to add contour to the cheeks

Ageing causes the soft tissue and fat pads in the cheeks to loose volume which causes the skin to sag and pull the facial features down. Using filler in the cheeks restores this volume loss by adding structural lift and support in the mid-face helping to reduce nasolabial folds (smile lines) and under eye hollows.

Nasolabial Lines

Nasolabial folds are the lines from the nose to the corner of the mouth. They can appear in both young and old people when they smile. However, as we grow older these folds can become deeper and apparent even without making any facial expressions.

The biggest complaint people tend to have is that these lines make the lower face appear heavier and older. Dermal fillers can be used to directly fill in the lines. However as we age, we lose volume in the cheeks and this allows the cheeks to sag and emphasise the appearance of the nasolabial folds, If nasolabial folds have formed due to sagging of the cheeks then adding volume to the cheek area with dermal filler can lift the cheeks and soften the nasolabial folds. This lifts the skin upwards and smoothes the fold. For deeper lines, a combination of injecting filler into the midface and directly into the wrinkle this will treat these lines whilst giving a natural appearance.

Marionette Lines

Marionette lines are the lines from the corner of the mouth to the chin. As we age these lines become deeper and can give a sad appearance to the lower face. Dermal filler can be placed in the marionette lines to provide more support for the area to reduce the appearance of the lines.

One of the most commonly cited reasons for wanting to get rid of them is because they give the appearance of being grumpy or sad. Treatment of the marionette area can lift the mouth corners and prevent downturning of the mouth which can sometimes give a glum appearance to the lower face.

Peri-Oral Lines

Lines around the mouth appear as we age, commonly from our mid 30s. The lines appear due to repeated contraction of the mouth – similar to how creases develop in clothes that are being crumpled. Loss of volume around the mouth as we age provides less support and structure allowing lines to develop. Peri-oral means ‘around the mouth’ and this term can apply to lines that form both above and below the lips. The most commonly treated peri-oral lines are those above the top lip.
